Has anyone made a 2010 video compilation of titular lines? Cause they were EVERYWHERE this year. Black Swan, True Grit, The Kings Speech, Inception…I want this video.
Just a quick note to say my Best of lists for video games and movies will be coming late this year, as I have yet to see most non-front runners and have yet to play Mass Effect 2 or Ac:Brotherhood. I’m working on it, guys. But expect my personal top ten TV shows of 2010 to be coming very soon!
Though Fringe was often entertaining in its first season and a half, it was never essential. That all changed abruptly in early 2010, as the show finally grounded its freak-of-the-week weirdness in deep sadness. In season one, the series introduced the idea that something unusal was going on with one central character, but the season-two episode “Peter” finally dramatized the moment that changed his life, giving the series’ overarching storyline a devastating emotional core, based in a father’s love instead of in theoretical concepts. It only got better from there, as the series expanded its world by further making those concepts concrete. Fringe is that rare blend of inventive ideas, wild ambition, and unexpected soulfulness.

Finally got my Holiday gift guide up with only a week to go til the big day! Or, well, Christmas. Which is like, a fine day. A medium sized day for a Jew like me. A Jew who refers to the Oscars as her Christmas. Point is, here are some gift ideas if you’re stuck!

Is it just me or is the casting of the lead EXACTLY right? Looks more like Peter Billingsley than Peter Billingsley does.
Give it a watch and give it a vote!
I (loquaciousmuse) found an article I wrote when I was 15 predicting the outcome of the 73rd Annual Academy Awards. If you like making fun of teenagers or have an unusual love for the Oscars, it may be worth a perusal.
I kind of wanna smack my teenage self for calling Chocolat a “sweet fable” and meaning it, but whatever. My love for Requiem for a Dream makes up for it.
Would we have been friends in high school?

Great article about why Anna Torv deserves an Emmy nomination for her work on Fringe this season. And to think, we’re only a third of the way through! But to everyone who thought she was one note or not that talented - bet ya’ll feel reeeaaallll stupid right about now cause DAMN is she good. She’s classically trained, she should be.
Obviously don’t click through if you aren’t caught up on Fringe. Also - CATCH UP ON FRINGE.
Really nice review of Black Swan submitted to Cineboobs.
Viewers who saw Mike Nichols’ “Closer” know that Natalie Portman is no stranger to a pas de deux, whether on stage as a dancer (albeit an exotic one), or a relational one, hosting multiple romantic partners. Darren Aronofsky takes that metaphor and stretches it beyond all reasonable definition in…
